According to the NPD group, Nintendo Switch has broken a huge sales record in the U.S and become the fastest selling video game console of the current hardware generation in the region. The console has reportedly sold “more than 8.7 million [Switch] units” in the U.S alone, from its launch in March 2017 through November 2018.
This means that Switch has surpassed U.S. sales of all other current-generation consoles at the same point in their life cycles. The NPD group is an American market research company which specializes in sales monitoring for numerous industries, including video games.
It’s worth noting that Switch‘s sales got a nice kick towards the end of this year, with Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee and Let’s Go Pikachu, which were both released on November 16, 2018, selling 2 million copies combined and Super Mario Party selling 1.4 million so far since its release on 12 June 2018.
