Yesterday, The European Southern Observatory said that they will be making a groundbreaking announcement next week concerning the “first result from the Event Horizon Telescope“ in a press event they will hold for this specific announcement.
The said telescope (EHT) has tried to capture an image of the event horizon of the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* In April 2017, and it is widely expected that the upcoming announcement would be the first image of the event horizon of that black hole taken by the telescope, which would also be the first-ever real image of an event horizon we’ve seen in history. But we can’t say anything for sure until the actual press conference is held.
According to The European Southern Observatory’s website, the press conference will be held on 10 April 2019 at 15:00 CEST at the Berlaymont Building, Rue de la Loi (Wetstraat) 200, B-1049 Brussels, Belgium, and will be streamed online on the ESO website, by the ERC, and on social media.
The video of the event will be streamed on YouTube, you can click this link to set a reminder for the stream so you won’t miss it.
